But because it would take time to implement the NI change, Mr Sanger says we may not see this happen until 1 January. "We may see a combination of both lifting the higher rate threshold and the tax-free Personal Allowance from £12,570, which would offer instant relief for households and wouldn't require immediate legislation, as it could be included in the upcoming Finance Bill," Mr Sanger says.
The tax would give councils the power to charge visitors who are staying overnight. Similar plans have already been implemented in places such as Greece, France, Amsterdam and Barcelona. Chairman of North Wales Tourism Christopher Frost said:"We can appreciate the motivation for the tourism levy following the pressures over the last few years, especially to 'honey pot' locations..."The biggest change in the economic landscape is clearly the cost of living crisis, which has seen an enormous surge in the price of energy, utilities and food.
Average weekly pay, including bonuses and adjusted for inflation, fell by 2.8% to £508 per week in July 2022.
