Coronation Street star Dame Maureen Lipman has issued a brutally honest verdict on what she thinks it's like to work on the show as she prepares to take a break. In a new interview, the much-loved actress said "It's a tough job".

The Hull-born actress trained at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art and worked extensively in the theatre following her début in a stage production of The Knack at the Palace Theatre, Watford.
A spokesperson for Corrie confirmed Maureen's time away to Digital Spy, saying: "Dame Maureen is taking a sabbatical from Coronation Street towards the end of the year. We look forward to seeing her back on the cobbles in 2025."
