CoronavirusSouthAfrica: Four South Africans “with symptoms” were left in China CoronaVirusUpdates
PRETORIA – Health Minister Zweli Mkhize on Monday revealed that four South Africans “with some symptoms” were left in the Chinese city of Wuhan when South Africans living in the coronavirus epicenter were repatriated back home last week.
"Of the citizens that had presented themselves for repatriation, four had to remain behind because they displayed some symptoms,” Mkhize told journalists in Pretoria. Passengers disembark from a plane on their arrival in Polokwani, South Africa, Saturday, March 14, 2020 after being repatriated from Wuhan, China where they will be kept in quarantine at a nearby resort. For most people the new coronavirus causes only mild or moderate symptoms, such as fever and cough. For some, especially older adults and people with existing health problems, it can cause more severe illness, including pneumonia.
"We are not saying they have the virus. We are saying on the criteria of bringing them back, we kept saying we are only going to bring back those South Africans displaying no symptoms, no fever and have not tested positive,” Mkhize said
