China further eased restrictions that had locked down its economy Sunday, as fatalities from the coronavirus pandemic shot past 30,000 globally.

The death toll from the Covid-19 disease caused by the new virus quintupled over the past two weeks to 30,852 on Sunday, with more than two-thirds of the fatalities in Europe, data compiled by Johns Hopkins University showed.
