Coronation Street's Alex Bain, who is known for playing Simon Barlow, has detailed his very different career away from the soap as he hopes to open a dance school
Simon Barlow is set to exit the cobbles in upcoming emotional scenes, where the character waves goodbye to Weatherfield and sets off to live with his dad, Peter. And Alex Bain, who has played Simon on Coronation Street for 16 years, has already wrapped up filming.
"I will always be a dancer and one day I would love to be a choreographer and teach dance and ultimately open my own dance and performance school," he told Radio Times, sharing that he has been able to take a 'full week of classes' for the first time in years, due to focusing on Coronation Street. While he may have a focus on dancing, Alex shared that acting is still on the horizon too, adding: "Acting goes hand in hand with dancing though so hopefully I will be able to continue to do both."
Joining the show in 2008, Alex was just seven years old when he took on the role of Simon. Alex's departure follow's from his on-screen father Chris Gascoyne, who recently left the show after 23 years of playing Peter Barlow. He made a heartbreaking exit from the Cobbles at the end of last year after killing Stephen Reid , with Peter's departure also potentially serving as the catalyst for Simon's exit.
