A 41-year-old man has appeared in court in Cork charged with the murder of his wife.

Gardaí discovered the body of Deepa Dinamani, 38, in the Wilton area of the city at about 22:10 local time on Friday.Det Garda Alan Johnson told the court he arrested Mr Rajan at Togher Garda Station and charged him. There was no reply to the charge and no application for bail as bail cannot be granted in the district court on a murder charge.
Mr Rajan's solicitor asked for his client to be given any necessary medical attention while in custody.Mr Burke also said his client had no income and applied for legal aid, which was granted by Judge Kelleher.Ms Dinamani, who is originally from India, was a chartered accountant and had been living at the house in Cardinal Court for several months with her husband and five-year-old child.
