Cops are looking for the man they say smashed a stranger in the head with a glass bottle in Lower Manhattan over the weekend.
According to authorities, a 42-year-old man was in the vicinity of Lafayette Street and Prince Street at around 3:15 a.m. on Sunday when he was approached by a stranger. That stranger then struck the man in the head with a glass bottle multiple times, police said.The suspect — seen on security camera footage wearing what appear to be sweatpants with a white t-shirt wrapped around his neck — fled on food westbound on Prince Street.
Reports of felony assaults are up slightly in Manhattan’s 5th Precinct, where the incident occurred, according to. As of Feb. 19, when the most recent data is available, there were 22 reported felony assaults year-to-date in the precinct, which serves the southeastern edge of Manhattan — up from 20 in the same time frame last year.
