Derrick Banks, who is with First Responder KZN, says they were called to assist on the Durban side on Thursday morning.
"A metro police officer has been killed. When paramedics arrived on scene they found the officer lying on the road and unfortunately, there was nothing more that paramedics could do and was declared deceased on the scene.“The circumstances surrounding the scene are unclear but all necessary authorities are on scene. The M7 taking the on-ramp to the Hans Dettman towards Queensburgh has been closed to traffic. All vehicles have been diverted to other roads.
