The suit filed by Tetra Tech alleges that Acciona breached its design agreement and wrongfully terminated the engineering firm.
An engineering firm has filed a $20-million lawsuit against Metro Vancouver and the company building a new sewage treatment plant on the North Shore, alleging that its contract was wrongfully terminated.
Last month, as reported by theBreaker.news, Tetra Tech filed a lawsuit in B.C. Supreme Court naming Acciona and the Greater Vancouver Sewerage and Drainage District seeking from Acciona payment of $20 million to cover design and engineering work — both invoiced and not — it has completed for the project.
Increases to the cost of the conveyance project, decommissioning the old plant, and the contingency pushed up the price, along with the addition of a district energy system. The federal and provincial governments are helping fund the project, contributing $212.3 million and $193 million, respectively.
