The Peddie Regional Court in the Eastern Cape has sentenced a 54-year-old father to life imprisonment for raping his eight-year-old son at Mgababa Village in Peddie.

NPA Regional Spokesperson Luxolo Tyali says perpetrator was arrested in Motherwell in Gqeberha where he was hiding. Tyali says the father was also sentenced to an additional five years for assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm. “The fifty-year-old man, who stayed with his sons in a village near Peddie, preyed on the young boy who was eight-years-old at that time, who just returned from school from the 31st of May 2023, before committing the worst crime on the child he was supposed to protect. He chained the boy to a pole and the boy was able to escape.
