Eskom says a “contamination incident” that occurred at the Kendal power station on the evening of Wednesday, 21 February 2024, is to blame for the all-day Stage 4 load-shedding currently in effect.notice at 04:00 on Thursday, 22 February, after five generating units at Kendal power station and one at Duvha power station went offline.
“During this period of investigation, the level of auxiliary cooling water, which also uses demineralised water, ran low,” it added.
