Haphazard rollout and conflicting websites confuse, frustrate newly eligible vaccine recipients

Haphazard rollouts and conflicting advice on government websites are some of the reasons cited by frustrated citizens aged 50 and over who have been unable to get their COVID-19 vaccine. The federal government's website directs people over 50 to "state and territory vaccination clinics"Northern Beaches resident Mike Bullen, 61, said he initially gave up on securing an appointment and wanted to wait till advice from federal and state authorities was more straightforward.

"You have to phone up and find out, you're on hold. It should just be simpler to find out where you can get the vaccine," he said.Glebe GP and the NSW Chair of Royal Australian College of General Practitioners, Dr Charlotte Hespe, said there was confusion because of multiple rollouts. Charlotte Hespe said the situation was likely to improve as the federal government made more doses of the vaccine available."It's been confusing because it's been changing so you read something one day and then you're not all that sure," she said.

Dr Hespe said the situation was likely to improve with more doses from the federal government and more available slots for patients.
