After ruling the South African mini-flyweight class with an iron fist for more than a year, the reigning South African strawweight champion Bangile Nyangani is ready to take things up to the next level

However, before the sleek fighter can lace up his gloves and face the best in the world, he will meet his fierce mini-flyweight rival Siyakholwa Kuse for a mandatory title defence on March 30.

According to the talented boxer, who hails from Mthatha in the Eastern Cape, if things were to go his way, he would go straight to international fighting. “If things were to be done [according to his preference], I was not going to fight Kuse again because I have beaten him already, so the fight does not take me anywhere as far as my boxing career is concerned.

The fighter, who also works as a fitness instructor at one of Johannesburg’s fitness businesses, said he had already spent R8 000 on ensuring he had the right diet. The 28-year-old said his ambition to move up to top-flight boxing was motivated by the prospect of gaining recognition from the four boxing bodies.
