The first indoor hockey game in Charlottetown was played in 1890. The West End Rangers was a team from the Bog, a predominantly Black neighbourhood on the west side of the 500 Lot area in the city, that consisted of such skilled players that they won against the more experienced Abegweits when they played against each other in 1900 – just one year after the Rangers’ formation.
