Wild swimmers in north Devon are being deterred from entering the sea due to concerns about water quality. A meeting has been called by the council to address public concerns, with various organizations set to answer questions from locals. The number of discharges into waterways has raised doubts about the state of the sea.

Environment correspondent, BBC South West Margaret Fisher took up wild swimming two years ago and used to take a dip in the sea whenever she could. But the 74-year-old north Devon resident said that was now in the past as concerns about water quality had deterred her from getting in this winter.The council said it called the meeting to address "ongoing public concerns" about water quality .

Organisations including South West Water (SWW), the Environment Agency (EA), the National Farmers Union and Surfers Against Sewage are due to answer questions from local people., was a "top priority".
