Historic Environment Scotland (HES) last week removed the category B listing on the building, following an application from its owners - who have lodged plans to partially demolish the former hotel.
There are fears that Dumbarton’s iconic Dumbuck House Hotel could be demolished, after it was stripped of its listed status.
It was listed in 1971, however following a consultation period over the summer it was officially de-listed on October 24 - despite more than 90 objections being submitted by residents. “This means very little stands in the way of demolition, with the owners no longer needing planning or listed building consent to tear it down.
Earlier this year Dunfermline-based Gateside Design made an application to WDC to demolish the property. Dumbarton councillor David McBride had previously said he would be “appalled” if any change to the listed status of the building was made.
