Most of the books that were either challenged or pulled in the Houston area were done so because of “pervasive vulgarity.' Other complaints say they 'corrupt young minds,' 'normalize teenage sex' and promote 'Black Lives Matter propaganda.'

A group of Katy ISD students organized to distribute books that cover issues such as race and LGBTQ+ matters to their peers at a park across the street from Seven Lakes High School on Monday, Feb. 21, 2022.
