Police confirmed a murder investigation has since been launched into the disappearance of Chloe Mitchell following the discovery on Saturday, June 11.
A community has been left "shadowed in sadness" after suspected human remains were found in the search for a missing woman.
"The family have stated they are broken. No one can understand just how deep that break is. I understand the police will be giving a detailed press conference in the morning. "But most importantly our love and care has to go to the family. I know that the police have got a special team with them and they are looking after them and they're trying to assist them at this time, because the next days, weeks, months are going to be absolutely difficult for them to deal with. They'll need all the support that they can possibly get.
“I trust no effort will be spared in bringing to justice and account all who are culpable in this matter.” Sean added: "The local community in the Ballymena area have risen to the challenge of looking after our people and treating them very much like their own so it has been a fantastic response from them and the support of course from Chloe's family throughout the whole thing is very important to our volunteers as well."
On Sunday night, PSNI Detective Chief Inspector Richard Millar said: “Sadly today [Sunday] detectives have recovered suspected human remains in Ballymena, and while there has been no formal identification, we have now launched a murder enquiry into the circumstances surrounding the disappearance of 21-year-old Chloe Mitchell, who was a high risk missing person.
