Community patrollers deployed to Gauteng schools to search pupils
Mazibuko said that drugs, such as “Zen” , codeine and cough mixtures, were being sold through the school fences and even at local spaza shops, which posed a health threat to pupils.
However, Mazibuko noted that some teachers might be afraid to search some pupils, which is why they had deployed patrollers: “Some teachers know which pupils sell drugs but are afraid of them. If they point them out to superiors, the pupils later harass them.”
