Community Notes battles a deluge of misinformation but it's work simply isn't being seen by enough users.

The Centre for Countering Digital Hate has found that Community Notes is helpless to a growing tide of misinformation and disinformation.A lack of a Trust and Safety team means that Community Notes is fighting a losing battle against misinformation.

As you may be aware, Community Notes are written by humans. Users were recently granted the ability to request a Community Note but there’s no guarantee that a Note will be affixed to a post. This is down to how they work. Among the misleading posts, CCDH found the following claims that did not display any corrections whatsoever:Voting systems are unreliable, with 574 million views,Misleading claims about Donald Trump, with 138 million views.

With an inordinate amount of posts flooding the platform everyday, there simply aren’t enough authors to stem the tide. There’s also the question of who oversees Community Notes to make sure it isn’t ever leaning one way or another too often. It’s this lack of oversight that could ultimately be Community Notes’ undoing.
