Commissioner pursued successor to 'settle score'
Last year, eight years after his retirement, Ntobela undertook a pro bono investigation to “expose Manamela” by linking her to allegations that she had unduly received gifts from police stations, practised nepotism and irregularly promoted police officers.Manamela, who was appointed provincial commissioner in July 2021, was not even Ntobela’s immediate successor.
“I can confidently say that we are a team, but there is one [who is not a team player]. He or she might be here, so I won’t be specific. “The person Ntobela was referring to is Manamela, and, after so many years since he left, he is still after her.” A source said: Masemola said another suspension of Manamela would enable a board of inquiry to investigate her fitness to hold office.
