The Commission for Gender Equality will host a two-day conference in Sandton, Johannesburg from Wednesday, aimed at reflecting on the progress made towards the attainment of gender equality in the country.Various stakeholders including the government, gender experts, traditional leaders, faith-based organisations, feminists and men’s forums among others, will chart a path forward to advance gender equality.
The conference is set to assess the strides, constraints and challenges that remain a hindrance to the fulfilment of gender equality in the country since the advent of democracy. The commission says it is obliged to help strengthen and deepen democracy to ensure a society free from all forms of gender oppression and inequality.
