Experts say that planned commercial spaces in the up-and-coming Woodlands area must stay competitive as it shapes up to become an economic hub. This is as its main competition will be Johor Bahru, where rents are up to 50 per cent cheaper.
One new condominium sold more than 80 per cent of its units during launch weekend, reflecting pent-up demand in the region which will also see about 4,000 new public housing flats launching from next year. Analysts say the area will be popular with those seeking to live near Malaysia to make weekly commutes, as well as small firms seeking to split their operations across the border, proximate to the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone.
