When we join together for San Antonio’s 36th annual Martin Luther King Jr. March on Monday, we remember this aspect of King’s legacy. I’ve always attended what many affectionately call “The March.” Yes, I was blessed to grow up in a civically engaged home. My parents supplemented my public school education with Black history lessons. We attended, and continue to attend, a community-minded, civically engaged church. My parents ensured my sister and I were part of civically minded extracurricular activities. And every year we attended “The March.
