Additionally, in an attempt to avert a strike, we reiterated our offer to the UPEIFA to go to interest arbitration on all remaining outstanding issues — both salary and non-salary. For full transparency, we have placed information on each party’s proposals and items in dispute on our website at www.upei.ca/labour/resourcesThere are a number of issues that remain in dispute between the two parties.

The university has proposals that will keep faculty members’ salaries at or close to the top of our regional comparators’ salaries. For our sessional instructors, the university has offered: 1) wages that would make them the second highest in the region and 2) to discuss a process by which some could become full-time faculty.

UPEI ranks fourth out of 19 primarily undergraduate universities in the country in student-faculty ratio.In the last six years, UPEI’s full-time tuition fee per undergraduate student grew by 13.4 per cent and 13.6 per cent , which is the lowest rate of growth in the Maritimes.
