COALITION NATION | Cometh the hour, cometh the man: GNU Dawn as Ramaphosa re-election expected
Furious behind-the-scenes talks unfolded late into Thursday night and at their centre was President Cyril Ramaphosa , who is expected to be elected as South Africa's number one citizen for a second term – with insiders saying he is the"right man, at the right time".
The ANC national executive committee met on Thursday evening, with secretary-general Fikile Mbalula reiterating the ANC's commitment to a government of national unity despite critique of the inclusion of parties such as the DA by the EFF and other small opposition parties that the ANC is gravitating towards"white parties".
"To us, it doesn't matter whether the cat is black or white. Fundamentally, the question is how do we move the country forward," Mbalula told journalists after the NEC meeting in Cape Town. South Africans need to be in the know if we want to create a prosperous future. News24 has kept the country informed for 25 years, and we're about to enter a new chapter of fearless journalism.
