Joe Cardona's streak spanned 140 games and nearly eight NFL seasons. Good times for LB Devin Lloyd, WR Rashid Shaheed as well, as San Diego's NFL contingent continues to shine.
Joe Cardona may be less renowned locally than the popular Padres pitcher, being a long-snapper who didn’t have a San Diego team to come home to. But like Musgrove — who won a World Series with the Astros — he’s a champion, having earned two Super Bowl rings with the Patriots.Sidelined by a torn foot tendon, he will see his streak of 140 games played end on Saturday. The Granite Hills High grad played in every game since 2015, the year Bill Belichick drafted him out of Navy.
Cardona experienced a partial tendon tear Dec. 14 against the Cardinals, per ESPN, and played through it Dec. 18, against the Raiders. He is expected to be recovered by the spring.Linebacker Cory Littleton started opposite Cardona’s Pats four years ago in the Super Bowl. He played in every Rams game across four years. If the 49ers are playing, Fred Warner is playing for them. He’s started all 84 games — including a Super Bowl — since joining the NFL.
