Even as some clouds return to the region Wednesday night, temperatures will be a little milder, and we won’t have to worry about frost. A few showers are possible as a big system gets organized in the middle of the country. And we have a very wet weekend on the way.THURSDAY: mostly cloudy, warmer, chance of showers mainly north, high 75.SATURDAY: overcast, windy, rain and showers, chance of isolated thunder, cooler, high 66.MONDAY: mostly cloudy, windy, scattered showers, high 55.

In the meantime, mild high pressure is centered over the Carolinas. While it is not doing a great job of clearing the Southeastern US, Ohio is enjoying blue sky and plenty of sunshine. Temperatures are already in the 60s across most of the state and continuing to climb. Clouds will thicken up later this evening and we will see a chance for some scattered showers tonight and overnight as a warm front lifts into the state.

The mid-country storm system tracks into the Mid-Mississippi River Valley on Friday, pushing rain into the region. Ohio stays generally dry until after sunset. However, once this system moves into the area, everything becomes very windy and very wet. The center of low pressure itself arrives in Ohio on Saturday. Gusty winds and occasional downpours will be likely. A few rumbles of thunder are also possible. Windy, wet, chilly conditions also are likely in West Lafayette, Indiana; Buckeye fans traveling to the Purdue game would be well advised to take rain gear and a change of clothes.

Even as the low moves toward the East Coast on Sunday, scattered showers and gusty winds will continue across Ohio. Then, an upper level low with some embedded cold air, keeps the region unsettled Monday and Tuesday. Scattered showers remain likely through Tuesday evening. Weak high pressure arrives on Wednesday to push the rain and clouds out of the region.
