After helping Crew 2 win MLS Next Pro Cup last season, center back Philip Quinton has secured a firs team contract.

with the No. 25 overall pick in the 2022 SuperDraft after four seasons at Notre Dame. Crew 2 declined his contract option in December, but the club remained in discussion with Quinton about a return, and his work in preseason training resulted in a contract for the 2023 season with options through 2026.
"We want to congratulate Phil on earning an opportunity with the first team," Crew general manager Tim Bezbatchenko said in a statement."We were impressed by Phil’s defensive performances with Crew 2, and his preparation, hard work and efforts have not gone unnoticed as he came into the 2023 preseason ready to fight for a position."Crew coach Wilfried Nancy"This is a good story for him," Nancy said.
Depth at center back was one of the biggest questions for the Crew heading into the 2023 season, particularly given Nancy's preference to play with three center backs, and adding Quinton to the group brings the Crew to five center backs on the roster.
