Indianapolis Colts running back Nyheim Hines was helped off the field Thursday after a helmet-to-helmet hit that reportedly resulted in a concussion, just one week after Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa was hospitalized after a big hit.

Hines suffered the hit from Denver Broncos linebacker Nik Bonitto less than two minutes into the first quarter of their game. Colts RB Nyheim Hines headed to the locker room to be tested for a concussion after exhibiting gross motor instability on the field, per @RapSheet— The MMQB October 7, 2022

The hit caused Hines to have trouble standing upright, prompting players and coaches to help him off of the field. Hines was sent to the locker room to be tested for a concussion after he showed"gross motor instability," per NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport. Hines, concussed, was ruled out for the game because of the NFL's concussion protocol, according to ESPN.

Last week, Tagovailoa suffered his second big hit in less than a week, leading to him exhibiting signs of"neurological response to head trauma," per a medical expert for Prime Video. The scare with Tagovailoa led the NFL and NFL Players Association to make"modifications" to the concussion protocol. The changes will be made"in the coming days," according to a joint statement Saturday.
