SMU had the third-highest number of transfer portal commitments among Football Subdivision teams, according to The Athletic.
“We’re going to be in position to go and attack those guys,” Brown toldbefore the portal opened. “And you have to be out in front of it and be the first one to see these dudes, especially in this contact period. We’re all going after the same guys.”
Though players seeking to be eligible for next season are no longer permitted to enter the portal, transfer recruiting isn’t over. The closing gives teams the chance to fully assess what they lost via the portal and where they still need help., but some would not confirm the total number, which is still in flux because not all players who entered the portal have found new homes.
