Austin Mock's model has updated its projected rankings to reflect Week 10 results. There's a new top-ranked team.

Last week, my projected College Football Playoff rankings had the top five basically flipped from what the committee came up with. I had at No. 1 and at No. 4 while the committee put the Huskies at No. 5 and the Buckeyes at No. 1. I said then that the numbers were close and that’s showing this week because there was a lot of movement within the five undefeated Power 5 teams in my projected rankings. Advertisement is the new No. 1 in my projected rankings, while Washington has slipped to No. 5.

But I’m pretty confident the changes aren’t going to be drastic and that the formula I’ve created is likely to be pretty accurate regardless. After all, it’s a sport where you rank higher if you win games and you’ll drop if you lose. We’re also including an extra column for strength of schedule, which is how my model ranks each team’s schedule. It’s there because so much of the discussion of how to differentiate teams with the same number of losses revolves around strength of schedule.
