'I tolerate a lot of rumors and slander online from people claiming to be my fans.'

has been open about valuing his privacy, keeping much of his relationship with Lili out of the public eye. However, it appears that he's recently been dealing with heightened attention and speculation about his personal life, and on Sunday, shared a series of posts aimed at people who recently engaged in attacks on Cole and his friends.

Although the actor didn't specify what caused him to speak out on social media, he started with a post that read, "I tolerate a lot of rumors and slander online from people claiming to be my fans. Fans who feel entitled to my privacy precisely because I never indulge them. But attacking my friends, baseless accusations, leaking my address, and sending death threats are all qualities of insanity and fanaticism. Choose humanity.

He continued, posting another Instagram Story that addressed his "public relationship," ostensibly with Lili. "When I first stepped into a public relationship this was one of the forseeable consequences. And while I truly never intended to indulge any part of my private life to the ravenous horde, it's clear my restraint in updating them has allowed them to push their own agenda on my habits and lifestyle," he wrote.

Prior to this Instagram post, both Cole and Lili had spoken on their desire to keep their relationship private. “I keep my relationship private because it’s just between two people, and that’s the way it should be,” Liliback in 2018. "It's not like I'm trying to dangle my relationship in front of people's faces like, 'you don't know anything about us.' It's just, you don't need to know.

It's important to remember that while your faves exist in a public entertainment sphere, that never gives anyone the right to invade their privacy. It's perfectly fine to support and follow your favorite celebrities on social media, but it's never OK to spread malicious rumors or private information that's used for harassment.
