To keep grass looking healthy, people need to keep maintaining it through winter
Winter weather can be a struggle for those trying to keep their grass looking healthy due to the lack of sunlight and heavy rain.
There are some helpful tips to follow this winter to ensure grass thrives during harsher conditions. Maintenance is key to keeping grass green in the colder months. A spokesperson for Garden Buildings Direct said: "It’s vital for gardeners to look after their grass in the winter months, as the change in weather can create harmful conditions for the soil and lead to an unpleasant appearance."READ MORE: Garden expert says you need to plant these 8 flowers in November Mow the grass every three weeks
It’s important to keep grass at a sensible length between 1.5 to 2 inches, or 2.5 depending on how well your grass reacts to being mowed . Cutting the grass down too far in winter can lead to bare patches in the garden and inconsistencies in colour.A very surprising tip which is said to give the greenest of grass in winter months is to sprinkle coffee grounds as a form of fertiliser. This releases hydrogen into the soil which provides useful nutrients for the soil.
