PJ and Logan are aiming to run 100K each during the month of August to raise money for their football team Ards Academy 2012

Two boys from Co Down are aiming to run 100km each over the month of August in order to raise funds for their football team.

Logan McGrady, 11, and PJ McMullan, 12, are taking on the challenge in order to raise money for their Ards Academy 2012 team so that it is able to purchase new equipment and fund team-building trips and upcoming competitions they are due to enter. The pair are hoping to run at least 4km every day as part of their fundraising efforts after deciding that they wanted to do something to help the team that they love so much.Read more: Who is Rebecca Shorten? Speaking to Belfast Live, Logan's mum Emma said: "Logan and PJ have become very good friends through their football club Ards Academy and decided between themselves that they wanted to do something to support their team in the upcoming season and raise funds for them to get new equipment and even a few team-building trips away.

"When they came to us and said that they were going to run 100km over the course of a month, we looked at them in shock and asked if they were being serious, but they were totally committed because they love their team so much."The boys have only started their running challenge but they have already gained a lot of support, raising over £400 in just over two weeks and are very thankful to everyone who has donated to support them.
