His court bill following the incident amounted to £390
A Co Antrim man has been fined and issued with costs after his unlicensed dog attacked and caused 'significant injuries' to another dog.
Conor Craig, from Firfields, Antrim, was prosecuted by Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council following the incident on November 17, 2022. The court heard his dog, which was unlicensed dog at the time, attacked and injured another dog being walked at Rea’s Wood. The owner of the injured dog which required veterinary care, reported Craig to the council.Almost nine months after the incident Craig pleaded guilty to all charges through his legal representatives at Antrim Magistrate's Court on August 7, 2023.
He was fined a total of £125, and ordered to pay costs of £250. A total of £150 of these costs constitute a compensation order payable to the owner of the injured dog.Mayor of Antrim and Newtownabbey, Councillor Mark Cooper said; “The Council places a strong emphasis in the investigation of all offences under dog control legislation.
