Despite the cloudy skies, people gathered outside the University of Washington's astronomy department in Seattle to witness the total solar eclipse. However, the clouds obstructed the view, with only 20% of the sun covered by the moon. Nevertheless, the event brought people together to experience a rare phenomenon.

In Seattle, many gathered outside of the University of Washington’s astronomy department trying to get a glimpse, but it was hard to come by with the clouds taking over the sky.During the eclipse, Seattle was set to get 20% of the sun covered by the moon. Unfortunately, it wasn't the outcome people wanted, but those who showed up said it was also about people getting together to experience a rare phenomenon.
"It's kind of cool to have something in common and it just reminds us that we're a tiny little drop in the big bucket of space and we're all experiencing it together," said Shelley Zinghang, who was hoping to get a glimpse of the eclipse. The path of totality, or total darkness is crossing over large sections of the interior East Coast and Southeast, crossing over big cities like Dallas, Indianapolis, and Cleveland.
