“The rate of community transmissions is affecting schooling,” said the union's Mugwena Maluleke. “As an organisation we cannot continue to send messages of condolences to families.” Speaking to TimesLIVE, Sadtu said it was not yet considering taking the department to court over the matter,Instead, the union said it would engage with basic education minister Angie Motshekga on its latest position. In the absence of Motshekga’s response to a request for an urgent meeting, the union said it would explore other options.
