The Cleveland Monsters took a 1-0 series lead over Syracuse with Thursday night's win.
CLEVELAND, Ohio — It took two periods for the Monsters to shake off the rust of a six-day layoff between playoff games, but they got another big-time goal in this 2024 postseason as Justin Pearson’s third period short-handed goal was the difference in a 1-0 win over the Syracuse Crunch at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse.
“It’s a credit to the group snapping back into it there with 20 minutes to go a chance to win the game after we left a lot of meat on the bone and getting it done.” “In the third period we dumbed it down, started skating and what do you know? You get some offensive opportunities and you play a little bit better. A lot to improve on, but glad we got the win.”
Pearson’s second goal of the postseason came in back-to-back games as his empty netter in game four of the North Division semifinals iced the series for the Monsters.
