Cleveland Mayor Bibb will help kick off a grant program to support small-business restaurants dealing with staffing shortages.

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Cleveland Mayor Bibb is scheduled to announce a High Road Kitchens grant program at a “Server for an Hour” event 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 7.in Cleveland’s Tremont neighborhood for the announcement of the program, which is in partnership with One Fair Wage and High Road Restaurants.

The High Road Kitchens program is designed to support small-business restaurants as they face post-pandemic staffing shortages, a critical and ongoing residual effect that the industry continues to deal with. Ten $5,000 grants will be awarded to small-business restaurants to help support their efforts to bolster wages, encourage fair-labor practices and recruit workers.

The Raise the Wage Campaign Ohio Coalition urges passage of an amendment this fall to raise Ohio’s minimum wage to $15 per hour in November 2024. Ohio’s minimum wage is $10.10 for non-tipped employees and $5.05 per hour for tipped employees.Bibb is expected to be joined by Fat Cats owner Ricardo Sandoval, One Fair Wage President Saru Jayaraman, Director of High Road Restaurants Mikey Knab, Executive Director of OhioMeansJobs Cleveland-Cuyahoga County Michelle Rose and other supporters.
