The international healthcare industry is watching whether Cleveland Clinic London — officially opening Tuesday — will attract enough high-paying patients to justify the Clinic’s $1 billion investment.

The Clinic is partly counting on the return to London of overseas patients – known as “embassy patients” because foreign embassies often pay for their treatment. United Arab Emirates and Qatar – leading sources of private patients who seek care in foreign countries — have recently relaxed travel restrictions to the U.K.
This is one of 29 ICU rooms in Cleveland Clinic London. The hospital has 184 inpatient beds, including eight operating theaters, a 41-bed neurological rehabilitation ward and a staff of approximately 1,150 caregivers.Most U.K. citizens are insured by the government-funded National Health Service. However, due to the pandemic,for care that’s not expected to shorten until at least 2024.for medical treatment paid for by the NHS.
