Cleveland Clinic Akron General on Friday celebrated the opening of a food pantry on the hospital’s first floor to help patients who are experiencing food insecurity.

“We offer our sincere thanks and appreciation to Rep. Sykes for bringing this project to fruition. It shows her deep commitment to serving the community and her constituents,” Akron General President Brian Harte said in the release. “Having access to sufficient amounts of food is essential to a person being able to experience good health, and this initiative will help many patients achieve that goal.
Recent University of Akron graduate Morgan Stocker will manage the pantry and make diet suggestions based on health information provided by patients’ physicians. She will also work with social workers to help meet patients’ social needs if necessary.
