Claire Sweeney returns to Coronation Street as Cassie Plummer, who drops a major bombshell on the Dobbs family so the truth about her being Tyrone’s mum is revealed
When it comes to the business of raising the dead, British soaps seem to be second to none. For while Michelle Collins is reprising her role as EastEnders’ late lamented Cindy Beale, Cassie Plummer has returned to the cobbles to contact her son.
“Cassie wants the truth to prevail,” says Claire, who adds the revelation was blurted out on impulse. But Evelyn is horrified. After all, she’s been telling Tyrone his mother is dead. His daughters Hope and Ruby are thrilled to have a new grandma, though. Not only are tensions high between Evelyn and Cassie, but Tyrone finds it hard to forgive Evelyn for her betrayal even when she explains she was only trying to protect him and her plan was to tell him the truth once Cassie was clean.
