Western Cape police, Home Affairs and the City of Cape Town law enforcement agencies conducted an integrated operation in the Delft policing precinct on Friday, 6 January 2023, which resulted in a total of 40 arrests.Search warrants, roadblocks and foot patrols were executed as part of the operation in Delft, a crime hotspot area where gang conflict, robberies and crimes such as gender based-violence are prevalent.

The suspects were arrested on charges related to “firearms, drugs, stolen property, undocumented persons and dealing in liquor without a license. Traffic fines to the value of R282, 300-00 were issued to unlicensed drivers and vehicles that are not roadworthy.”The Provincial Commissioner of the Western Cape, Lieutenant General Thembisile Patekile, commended the City’s law enforcement agencies for a successful operation and for safeguarding the communities from criminals.
