The extension is specifically for the codes needed to upgrade prepaid meters.

To be clear, this extension is only for the codes required to update a meter and old tokens will still cease to function on 24th November.

Exactly one month from now Token Identifiers used to prevent fraud in the prepaid electricity market will be updated. This means that customers will need to input a Key Change Token in order to continue receiving electricity.. Now however, the plan has changed. This as the South African Local Government Association has decided that the TID rollover will now have its deadline moved to 31st May 2025.

City Power reports that 99 percent of vending prepaid meter upgrades in its supply areas have completed the upgrade. Roodepoort, Reuven, Randburg and Lenasia have a 99.5 percent compliance rate while Midrand and Hursthill are at 99 percent. The Inner City is 98 percent and Alexandra is the lowest with an 89 percent compliance rate.
