Between now and Tuesday, E. Hastings Street residents are “encouraged” to comply with Fire Chief Karen Fry’s order that all “tents, tarps, furniture and other structures” be removed.
“For the first week, we had to do all the cleanup,” she said of volunteers who took on the responsibility of clearing garbage from the streets. “But eventually people started doing it for themselves.”
