The City of Cape Town’s Energy Directorate has urged residents to be vigilant of electricity scams doing the rounds online. Here's the story.

“Residents are encouraged to only purchase units from reputable vendors and are reminded that they may find vendors by making use of the City’s new load-shedding app or by visiting the City’s website,” the City said.

Van Reenen said, If residents should choose to purchase from the scammer, it will be money wasted and lost as the City cannot refund residents in these situations.
