Cape Town motorists with outstanding fees are warned that as Easter weekend approaches, traffic police are ‘expected to be on high alert’.
Cape Town motorists to be aware this easter seasonthe City of Cape Town stated that it will bring back its traffic fine roadshow in a bid to ‘clear 17,000 outstanding fines and 5,000 warrants’, in a media statement on Sunday, 17 March 2024.
The City of Cape Town stated that the roadshow will be an opportunity for motorists to ‘clear any outstanding fines or warrants, in a central location’, to avoid the risk of a run-in at a roadblock. From Monday, 25 March 2024, until Wednesday, 27 March 2024, the roadshow will be at the Cape Town Civic Centre to assist motorists with their outstanding fees.
During the festive period in December 2023, around R4.6 million was collected, assisting over 2,000 clients, finalizing 16,923 fines and 5,150 warrants.The Western Cape Mobility Department is offering FREE ten-point checks for all vehicles from Saturday 23 to Thursday 28 March at venues in Cape Town and Drakenstein.their free vehicle safety tests, administered by qualified examiners, encompass a thorough ten-point inspection.
The department is dedicated to road safety, so let’s all work together to ensure a joyful and safe Easter on the roads.
