Cleveland and CMHA are razing and remaking the 1939-built Woodhill Homes public housing complex.
The city of Cleveland and Cuyahoga Metropolitan Housing Authority have teamed up to replace antiquated public housing at Woodhill Homes.CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Five new streets will be built in Cleveland’s Buckeye-Woodhill neighborhood as part of efforts to replace the city’s second-oldest housing complex, and build apartments and townhomes around it.
The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development in 2021 awarded Cleveland and CMHA a $35 million grant to see the transformation through. The new streets are intended to break up those “superblocks” and improve the flow of pedestrians and other traffic. Five new streets will be added between Morris Black Place and the area of East 100th Street. Officials haven’t decided on the street names yet.
