Study is part of city's greenhouse gas reduction plan; residents invited to participate in an online information session

Sault Ste. Marie residents are invited to participate in an online information session for a city's study that reviews home retrofit financing models as part of its greenhouse gas reduction plan.The data collected during the session will determine the type of financing program that best supports local homeowners in their home energy retrofits.The City of Sault Ste. Marie is conducting a study to review home retrofit financing models as part of its greenhouse gas reduction plan.

“Retrofitting our homes and businesses is a key part of reducing greenhouse gas emissions and adapting our buildings to be more resilient to climate change,” said Emily Cormier, sustainability coordinator with the City of Sault Ste. Marie. “This project will also contribute to our community’s goal of net zero GHGs by 2050”.

The session will highlight the benefits of an energy efficient home, what the home energy efficiency study is, how it relates to homeowners and the financial options being explored. Residents are also encouraged to complete the project survey at on this link. A survey specific to local contractors and builders is also available on this website. Both surveys will be open for feedback for approximately one month.
